
DAVIDE DORMINO
His research is expressed mainly through sculpture and drawing.
He seeks new forms through continuous research into the lyrical and plastic possibilities of materials such as marble, bronze, and iron.
In his public art works, we find a search for monumentality (Poltergeist, 2019) and a takeover of space (Naviganti_Monument to Imagination, 2017); in each of his works, moreover, a search for meaning appears through reference to themes inescapable to Man (Atlas, 2019).
He has created environmental works in Italy and abroad including, Breath in 2011, commissioned by the United Nations, and permanently installed on the North Lawn of U.N. Headquarters in New York.
Anything to say?, 2015, a traveling sculpture dedicated to courage and freedom of expression that began its journey from Berlin (Alexanderplatz) on May 1, 2015 subsequently the Opera moved to Dresden (Theatrerplatz, Ostrale), Geneva (Place des Nations), Paris (Place Georges Pompidou), Strasbourg (Place Klèber), Tours (Gare de Tours), Perugia ( Piazza IV Novembre), Belgrade (Dev9t Festival), Ptuj-Slovenia (Art Stay Festival), Rome (p.le Aldo Moro), Spoleto (Piazza Campello), Berlin (Brandenburger Tor), Brussels (Place de la Monnaie), Cologne (Köln Cathedral), Geneva (Bain de Paquis).
For this work he received the 2016 Prix Èhique from the French organization AntiCor.
He has participated in the Biennial of Stone in Portugal (2003, 2005) the 14th Biennial of Sacred Art (2010); the 5th edition of La Escultura en Norte in Spain (2009); Un’Ita-Italian Artists in New York (2011); Ostrale 012 in Dresden, Germany (2012).
He has exhibited at the C.I.A.C in Genazzano, Rome (2008), Accademia dello Scompiglio, Lucca (2010), Venaria in Turin (2013), Castello di Rivara (2013)
He has held solo exhibitions in Rome, Turin, Milan.
He works in Rome and teaches Drawing, Sculpture and Installation at R.U.F.A. Rome University of Fine Arts.
