ROXY IN THE BOX

Ph. By Riccardo Piccirillo

For Seminaria 2025, Roxy In The Box creates the project ZIA ROSA LA BIGOTTA, produced in collaboration with Pessoa Luna Park

Roxy in The Box’s ironic and irreverent gaze investigates and mocks every aspect of the reality surrounding her. Naples is the place of the soul from which her artistic theater draws daily nourishment, but her art looks to the world, touching on universal themes. In her works, an infinite repertoire of symbols meets the language of mass consumption, icons of cinema, advertising, comics, and cartoons. Her colorful and playful imagery confronts complex themes such as feminism, gender identities and roles, social constraints, the pain of loneliness, the need for love, consumerist alienation, and migrations, helping us to rethink them. Roxy in the Box has created numerous street art works and has participated in artistic residencies around the world. Since 1999, she has exhibited in museums and galleries in Italy and abroad. In 2023, she created the visual design for the Pessoa Luna Park, conceiving works to be played with and won for the Neapolitan stop of the traveling theme park. Among her exhibitions and projects: Maresistere, National Archaeological Museum of Naples (2019), later permanently installed at the State Archives of Naples (2024); Best Packaging: science+design, Fuorisalone, Milan (2017); La Sposa Madre, Sansevero Chapel Museum, Naples (2013); Save The Icon – Elvis Presley, created with Studio Trisorio at Borgo di Postignano, Sellano (2013); Stories that Make History, Sky Arte Festival in collaboration with Sky Academy, Naples (2017); Cinesonika International Film and Video Festival of Sound Design, Vancouver (2011); In Out at the Kunsthalle in Osnabruck (2017); Furnishing of Palazzo Italia, curated by the Farnesina, Belgrade (2006); Cow Parade in Piazza della Signoria, Florence (2005); Unwritten Structures.
